Eight emerging horror writers of color are invited to the White-Duvall Vineyard Estate on Catalina Island for an immersive fellowship. One selected fellow will receive a first-look development deal.

About the Fellowship

For emerging writers developing bold, original horror features for film and television.

The program is designed to give fellows dedicated time, thoughtful feedback, and a lasting creative cohort beyond the five days on site.

The Estate

A private vineyard property designed for craft, mentorship, and creative community.

For the duration of the fellowship, fellows live and work on site, sharing meals, workshops, mentorship sessions, and informal evening conversations throughout the estate.

Property subject to availability and may change at the host's discretion. Certain areas may be restricted.

The Opportunity

One selected fellow will receive a first-look development deal.

The fellowship concludes with final pitch consultations and individualized project guidance for each participant. One fellow will be selected for further development consideration.

  • Accepted fellows must be available for the full duration of the retreat.
  • Outside visitors are not permitted.
  • Cell service may be limited.
  • Participation requires a signed release.
  • Fellows are expected to participate fully in all scheduled sessions.

About the Project

The Safe Space Fellowship is a fictional in-world artifact from SAFE SPACE, a horror-dark comedy feature screenplay by Trevor Zhou.

When a legendary horror producer invites a group of emerging writers of color to his vineyard retreat, they think they’ve finally gotten their big break. But as they’re killed off one by one, they discover his celebrated career was built on sacrifice. Theirs.
